“The items in this auction in Los Angeles on Feb. 6, 2009, represented over 70 years of music history from early jazz greats, to rock-n-roll legends. This is the item that might peak our reader's interest: - - - - - - - - - Item #87A- NEIL DIAMOND'S VINTAGE FORD THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE. 1956 Ford Thunderbird, VIN P6FH272438, two seat roadster convertible, white interior, with hard and (white) soft top, V8 engine, three speed transmission, front end power disk brake conversion, air conditioning, owned and driven by Neil Diamond. The license plate, "EICE," is a reference to a stage name that Diamond considered - Eice (pronounced "Ice") Charry. Personally donated by Neil Diamond, MusiCare's Person of the Year, to benefit MusiCares." - - - - - - - - - - It was later reported by Jo Dunn that: "Recording Academy President, Neil Portnow, bought the singer/songwriter's donated 1956 Thunderbird convertible with a bid of $75,000.
