Bernard Kitt says: My 1957 Thunderbird's color code of SS means "special" and I understand (?) can only be ordered by a Ford VP or higher. I bought the car in Detroit in 1976 under the assertion that the first owner was Henry Ford II's first wife.<p>
It is a 1957 Lincoln color called Ivy Green, a dark green metallic. Let me assure that this car causes raves wherever we go, it is the most stunning Bird I have ever seen. Auto painters tell me that it's because combining a dark metallic color with those very sharp lines in a Bird, everything is exaggerated: the hood crease, the fins, the fenders, etc. I also own Registry Number 11304.
