Dennis Benfante says: I purchased my 1957 Thunderbird from a doctor in Brooklyn, New York on November 7, 1997. The car has had extensive work done to it in my 12 years of ownership. The car was brought down to bard metal and revealed rust only under the right rear tail light. The frame had absolutely no rust. The car was garage kept, so the rust was not a problem. However the engine had to be completly rebuilt, the brakes needed to be replaced along with all the lines.
I am a member of C.T.C.I. # 30603 and I joined Thunderbird Owners of New York (T.O.N.Y. C.T.C.I. Chapter #49) in 1998. And have been serving as President since 2002. UPDATE September 2017, New York State DMV registration is current.
