This is a 1957 Thunderbird. It is red with a white hard top, a black soft top, and a red interior. It has 3-speed manual transmission with Overdrive. As of May, 2003 it was in New York City. + + + + As of August, 2003 it was in Rochester, New York. + + + September 15, 2003 update: Gregory Graham says: This Thunderbird now resides in California. I would like to know more about this car if anyone has any history. It has a kilometer odometer and three speed/overdrive transmission. This baby bird is one of only 625, 1957 D-Series, Thunderbirds built with the 312 Cu. In. 4 –barrel and a three speed manual transmission with overdrive. Less than 3 percent of these rare and unusual 1957 Thunderbirds were configured in this manner. Additionally to add to the rarity of this Thunderbird it was exported to France. It retains the kilometer/odometer and a EURO radio that has a BBC station selection button. The build plate indicates it is a Type D7S which I believe indicates a Model D, 1957, France. The weight on the build plate is indicated as 1780 Kgs. (1780 kilogram = 3,924 pounds) In all other respects it looks like the standard 1957 American made Thunderbird. I also own RegistryNumber 3334 , a 1963 Thunderbird Sports Roadster. UPDATE November 2012, Dennis Dole reports it was sold at the 2005 Palm Springs Exotic Car auction for $29,000. January 2014, Dennis reports it was documented by Mr. Graham in an article in the July-Aug 2004 edition of Early Bird, pages 22 and 23. + + + + + UPDATE September 2024, it is for sale in Mount Shasta, California. The Facebook post names Tyson Park as the person who is helping to sell it as the owner has passed away. (picture updated)
