August 2017 I purchased this car in Michigan from Donald Potter, the previous owner of 18 years. The original bill of sale was to a dealer in Alton, IL in 1957. As I understand it, the car had two owners (Nick Wood and Gary Turner) in California that I can identify and track back to 1984. Mr. Potter tells me that he purchased the car through a broker that sourced the car from Prestige Thunderbird in Santa Fe Springs ,CA. They performed a number of refurbishments in 1999 before shipping it to Michigan. I would like to know where the car spent its early years (1957-1984?)
Currently the car is in good condition, and has been well maintained. It is an older restoration but very presentable as a driver. Rust free frame and undercarriage, engine was rebuilt in 2000, and was driven 3700 miles after completion. Originally Raven Black with Black/White interior, was painted Colonial white some time ago, and is still white. I plan to have rear qtr panels replaced (as it appears to have had body work performed in this area some time ago) , and new paint job. other than these improvements, car is perfect!
