I acquired this 1957 Thunderbird in September of 2001 through a laborer that was building another garage for me. Spotting the Thunderbirds at my house he wanted to know if I was interested in this car that had been sitting in a garage since 1988 when the owner passed away. The car was located in Fremont, California and I made calls to the widow and a deal was made. I was very disappointed in the actual condition when I saw it for the first time but went through with the purchase and put it on my trailer. Fortunately the motor and transmission had just been rebuilt prior to the passing of the previous owner so that part of the car was good. The rest was a mess. All the cosmetics were required including paint and body, chrome, rubber, tires, trunk, engine detailing, and full interior restoration.<p> The options on the car include hardtop, 312 with automatic, radio, heater, fender skirts, full wheel covers, engine dress up kit, floor mats, and back up lights. The car did have a soft top at one time but had long since disappeared. After the cosmetic restoration I entered the car in several local cruise shows and won some trophies with it. I entered the car in the VTCI International Convention in Costa Mesa August 2002 in the Driver Division and placed second with the car. Two weeks later at a local cruise show I was approached about selling the car and the car was sold. It is still in the San Diego area and frequently seen at local car shows.
