This 1957 Thunderbird was documented in the July-August 1998 issue of Early Bird magazine. The owners, Alex and Donna Tompa of Pennington, New Jersey purchased this car in Fort Washington, PA in 1990. The seller provided documentation that the car had been previously owned by Annette Funicello. Originally this Thunderbird was a triple white car but the time of the article the T-Bird was Colonial White with a matching porthole hard top and a black and white interior. Mr. Tompa is with the car in the picture above. - - - - - - - - -
A separate article in the July-August 1998 edition of Early Bird documents that Annette Funicello was given a white 1957 Thunderbird by her father on Christmas Day in 1958 when she was sixteen years old. After she had the Thunderbird for about a year it was taken to customizer George Barris where it received a glossy candy purple paint job, purple tuck and roll upholstery and 3 inch deep purple shag carpet. This version of the car is shown on the cover of Early Bird. - - - - - - - - - Alex Tompa stated that he has chipped away some of the white paint on the hood of his Thunderbird and discovered candy purple paint. He also reports that his Thunderbird had been sold sometime previously at a Kruse auction in Las Vegas, Nevada. - - - - - - - - - - click on the link below to see this car in its purple paint with owner Annette Funicello.
