Thunderbird Spotter Bryan Fisk says that this 1957 Thunderbird was offered on eBay in June, 2004 and was in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The description states:
The car you are viewing is a 1957 Ford Thunderbird. I am listing the car for a friend. The car was purchased brand new by his father so it has been owned by one family since new. The car was bought new at Carol Motor Sales of East Liverpool, Ohio on November 6, 1957. Included with the car are all of the repair orders for work done to the car. There may be a few documents missing from over the years but overall it is very complete. The original invoice, wwner’s manual, build sheet (labeled “gate release and accounting”). As stated on the original build sheet, the car came equipped with automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, wide whitewall tires, signal seeking radio, and side skirts. Although the original documentation does not show it, the engine does have the dress-up kit, which must have been installed either at the dealer or some later time. -------In 1968, his father set about going over the car completely. At that time the engine and transmission were completely rebuilt. In addition to the mechanicals being redone, the body was gone over for any rust that had crept in. All bodywork was done with lead rather than bondo. A new top was installed as well. Since 1968 the car has never been in the rain or any other unfavorable elements. ------The interior was redone with new seat covers in 1978. A replacement Town and Country radio was also purchased about the same time but was never installed in the car. It is included with the car and worked when purchased but unfortunately my friend isn’t able to test it to determine if it still works today. ------ In 1990-1991 my friend went over the car again. The head was redone, with guides, seals, etc. and the car was gone over again to make sure that it was in good operating condition. He also had the body gone over again and once again it was done with lead and not bondo. In other words, it was done correctly. The brakes and exhaust were redone and new tires were installed. The car has only traveled roughly 1,000 miles since the early nineties. The tires are like new although a bit flatspotted. ------Overall the car is very, very nice although it is not a trailer queen. It fires up, runs and drives like new, with the exception of the flatspotted tires. The interior is in beautiful condition with a little patina but no other issues. The exterior is very presentable and looks perfect from a few feet away. There are some imperfections in the paint but they are due to the age of the paint job and not the quality of the job that was done. The paint job was an expensive, professionally done job. The top is in good condition with no rips or tears except for some splitting on the outermost edges. ------While the car is not perfect, you certainly would not be embarrassed to show it at any event. Over the years the car has always been well cared for and kept up. It is rare to find a car this nice that is essentially a one owner or one family owned car. I encourage you to come inspect the car prior to making a bid. You are also more than welcome to have someone come inspect the car for you if desired. ---------------Additional information:----- This Thunderbird was documented in Early Bird Magazine (March-April 1986) by Furman South IV who stated that his father Furman South III was the original owner.
