Tim Roden says: This 1957 Thunderbird was purchased by my parents in August of 1960. It would stay in the family for 39 years then it was sold in 1999 to Jewel Meetz in Wisconsin. At 11 years old, I was with my mother and brother as we drove to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in search of a two-seater Thunderbird. We found this Flame Red 57 E-Bird at the Knippel Selig car dealership where it was originally sold new in West Allis, Wis. The attached photo is my 16-year-old brother sitting in our new Thunderbird. He would eventually own this car in the mid 1980's.

The two four-barrel carburetors gave my dad fits until he had them rebuilt. It was my mother's car, but both my brother and I got to drive the car but very sparingly. She was very protective of it. The car was only three years old when we bought it, but it already had 40,000 miles on the odometer. The T-Bird was missing the fan shroud, wind wings, sun visors and the hard top. My dad was able to buy all of these items from our local Ford Dealer in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The hard top was too expensive, so he bought an aftermarket top.

We enjoyed this 57 Thunderbird for so many years and it has a special place in our heart. This car influenced my brother and I so much, that in 2024 he owns a Torch Red 55 T-Bird and I own a Raven Black 56 T-Bird that I have owned for 44 years. Our love for Thunderbirds started with this car.

It is my understanding that Jewel Meetz kept the car for a few years and then sold it. Where it is today? I have no idea. I hope it is being well taken care of.
