(Former owner) Dan Brown says: This Thunderbird was ordered by Mr. Fred Aerni of Columbus, Nebraska from Rogers Motor Company in Columbus on April 24, 1958. He took delivery of the car approximately June 21, 1958, as that is the date on the original Nebraska title, of which we have in our possession. My car partner and I are the second owners of this car. The car sat still for nearly 30 years in the garage of Mrs. Aerni in Columbus until approximately sometime in 2001 when Mr. Larry Aerni, the son of the original owner, took the car to a shop and had it brought back to life. They did such needed things as resealing the engine and transmission, replacing all of the brakes, brakes lines, wheel cylinders, all rubber hoses and belts, carburetor rebuild, cooling system, etc. In other words, all the things needed to bring it back to life. It is still in its original Raven Black paint, as from the factory, as well as all interior appointments. As you may have noticed, the wheel covers on the car are 1957 Thunderbird wheel covers but Mr. Aerni tells us that right or wrong, those are the ones that Rogers Motor Company delivered on the car in 1958. We do have a complete set of original 1958 Thunderbird wheel covers for the car but we leave the ones that have always been on the car there. In the nearly three years that we have owned the car, we have driven it approximately 500 miles. Most of the time, we trailer it to local car shows rather than take the risk of putting it on the road, although it did make one 300 mile drive across the state of Nebraska with no problems what so ever. Overall the car is an excellent example of an original Thunderbird. There are some blemishes on the paint where an over zealous detail man with a power buffer caused some loss of paint. Those areas are very limited and you do have to look closely for them. We are trying to keep the car as completely 100% original as possible. While we have new reproduction 800X14 tires on the car, we have the original tires in storage in our building. - - - -
UPDATE November 2018, Chris Dunn notified the Registry that he owns this Thunderbird and it is in Florida. (picture updated)
