Carps says: This 1959 Thunderbird was owned in the 70's by the owner of Bonnie's Taxi in the Vancouver, Canada area. It was sold to 2 previous owners prior to my purchase. The car was in the last owners hands for 10 years, before that the previous owner had the car for at least 15 years. The interior carpets were wet/rotten but the last owner did the upholstery, seats and dash and rear quarters in black and white. So all was damp but OK. The front and rear bumpers were rechromed and various other trim pieces, in and out were rechromed and stored. - - - - - - - - - - - -
The body is good except the right rear trunk channel and the rear cowl, right side are rusted through and need replacing. I have gotten the power drivers seat working, the door power windows working and the engine started and running after liberal doses of LPS and fresh oil. The car has 110,753 miles on it and the engine does not smoke. The transmission seems to be good, shifting in and out of drive and reverse but is yet to be run through the gears while up on Jack stands. The fuel tank was replaced but needs replacing again due to condensation rust. I run the car in the shop with an electric fuel pump and a 2 gallon jerrycan sitting on the fender. I have redone all the brake wheel cylinders and master, flexible lines front and rear, all ball joints, drums turned and new brake spring kits. Wheel bearings were OK and new grease and seals installed. All glass is good and only the door windows have been replaced.
