Ron Dietzler says: My 1959 Thunderbird has a white and chrome exterior with a black leather interior. It has all 3 chrome kits: front end, engine, and rear end. It has the Thunderbird red-white-and-blue (Sun Ray) wheel covers, new B. F. Goodrich Silvertown wide white wall tires. "Thunder" has won 15 trophies to date including Mayor's Choice, Best 50's, Best Thunderbird, Car Show's Club Sponsors' Choice, Policeman's Choice, Second Best Ford, and Third Place Boise Roadser in 1997. My wife Judie gave me "Thunder" for Christmas in 1989 and I started the Idaho Vintage Thunderbird Club in 1990; was president for 9 years. Update May 29, 2004: Ron adds: My '59 won Best in Class - First Place today at the Stampede Run in Nampa, Idaho. UPDATE January 2015, Ron says: Now "Thunder" has won 50 + Awards. The engine was rebuilt by Meridian Automotive in 2008 , and was found to be a Ford Police Interceptor. We added a Crower camshaft and MSD Digital Distributor. It is now rated at 375 horsepower. UPDATE May 2015, it won First Place at the March 2015 Boise Roadster Show. > > > > UPDATE September 2016, Ron reports: I was honored by being invited to be in the special display, Boise Hot Rod Heaven March 2016 .. May 14th 2016 enroute to a car show " THUNDER " was struck from behind by a 2007 Hummer going 100MPH and rolled 3-4 times .. THUNDER , My Love for 28 years is no more .. (status changed to 70)
