May 2011 update, Richard in Melbourne Australia tells us that he owns this car. He adds that after Ken Harkema owned it, the car was neglected and needs some restoration work which will start soon. - - - - - November 2002, Ken Harkema says: I purchased this car 19 years ago from Hilltop Classics in Escondido, California. It had no motor or interior and of course it was missing the windbar. I did nothing with the car for years except collect parts for the restoration. Five years ago I started the restoration and every nut, bolt, and screw was removed and either replaced or refurbished. The car was originally white with black and white interior. As I owned a 1960 convertible with Beechwood Brown Metallic; I decided to make a matching pair. After body and paint work was done I installed all the glass, chrome, and sliding sunroof along with the headliner. - - - - - - - Then I replaced the dash and installed beige leather interior. I next went through the suspension replacing all springs, bushings, ball joints, and tie rods. I rebuilt the power steering and the rear axle. I then rebuilt a 430 motor, accessories, and transmission and installed them as a unit. I had found a rare factory fan shroud years ago in Yuma, Arizona and decided to install it on this car. The car was finished in May of 2001 just before the San Diego VTCI Regional convention and was entered in the Primary Division where it won a first place. In August of 2002 the car was entered in the VTCI International convention in Costa Mesa, California in the Primary Division where it won first place and best of show.<p>The following options are installed on this car: power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, power windows, power driver seat, rear deck antenna, Sunray wheel covers, floor mats, radiator cooling shroud, back up lights, fender skirts, 8:50 X 14 ww tires, leather interior, exterior chrome package, 430 Lincoln motor, and Cruise-o-Matic transmission.
-----The Thunderbird Registrar says: Ken's car is featured on www.tbird.org as the November 2002 Thunderbird of the Month. This Thunderbird has a scheduled production date of November 10, 1959. Among all presently known and accounted for 1960 Sliding Sun Roof Hardtops with the 430-cubic inch V-8, Ken's car has the lowest consecutive unit number which is 111803.
