Alice and Parker Irey say: This 1960 Thunderbird Hardtop with Sliding Sun Roof was purchased from Clay Loomis in 1998. It had sat neglected for 27 years, partly covered; the rear window was shot out by a vandal. We are the T-bird's third owners. The car is Raven Black with a black leather interior. It has power brakes and power steering. The original buyer - a fellow in Bell California, named Charlie Chaplin - did not include air conditioning power windows or seats; he did, however, like power so he ordered the 430 V-8 engine option. The original engine has been completely rebuilt as has the transmission, the car moved under it's own power for the first time in 30 years in April 2003. We have undertaken a complete owner restoration and are progressing slowly. The interior is original (except the dash). Clay had planned to cut the firewall and install factory air, he had replaced the dash with one with a vent. All will have to be replaced. Rebuilding a 430 was a challenge - many parts are available, many are not. The fuel pump has been especially difficult and any parts for the vacuum portion of the oil pump are nonexistant. The paint was re-done in July, 2003. The T-bird's official debut was Doughnut Derelicts at Adams and Magnolia on Saturday morning [Fountain Valley, California]. Come and see us - we are regulars! - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It was documented by the Heartland Vintage Thunderbird Club as being owned by C. Loomis of California. Bob Horan provided the production codes.
