Paul Bender lives in Australia, and he writes this about his 1960 Thunderbird: I picked up a 1960 hardtop on 3rd October 2009 from Mr Richard Lynch. He had inherited his brothers estate upon his death from cancer a year before. His brothers name was Robert Lynch. Robert had bought the car in October 2006 from Mr Duane Barbe of Huntington Beach, California and imported it to Australia. The car was in very tired condition, although with no rust except a little surface rust in the trunk and RHS floor pan. The engine ran - but only just and it was obvious it had not seen any sort of mechanic in many many years, with the engine bay a mass of oil leaks and thick accumulated filth. The electrics were in very poor state and only one electric window worked at all, most other things didn't. The interior was shot.
It is now in very presentable condition I think (see photo). When I pulled out the rear seat it had the original Lincoln Assembly Plant Production Broadcast Ticket tucked into the springs and some of the below details come from that. RN 26976's broadcast build sheet is intact, and from it we learn that this Thunderbird was actually built on June 8, 1960 - five days ahead of schedule. -------------- Arthur Ash registered this Thunderbird on July 6, 2005: This 1960 Thunderbird Hardtop has a 352 V-8 engine, power windows and a power drivers seat. As of July, 2005 it was for sale on ebay and located in Huntington Beach, California.
