Ken Harkema says: There is an interesting story behind this car. I first bought this car in 1984 and totally rebuilt the car. It was featured in a magazine (I can't find the copy at the moment) and won many first place trophies including first place at the 1985 VTCA Regional in San Diego. I have a very nice professional photo taken at the Knott's Berry All Fords show hanging on my wall. I decided to sell the car and ran an ad. A man in a very expensive Porsche 928 came to see it but I got cold feet and told him I changed my mind and did not want to sell it. Well, he kept offering more money $500 at a time until my resistance was gone. The deal was made and I forgot about the car. <p>About 4 years later while thumbing through the local Auto Trader I saw a 1960 hardtop for sale and decided I should look at it. It was in terrible condition, the paint was almost orange, many dents in the body, and the interior was all torn up including the dash pad and glovebox. As soon as I read the VIN, I realized this was my old car. After talking with the current owner I found that the car was purchased from the Federal Government and had been confiscated while running drugs through the Tijuana boarder. That explained why the interior was such a mess. The car had been stored outside and the fork lift operators were not very carefull while moving cars within the compound hence all the dents. I bought the car, restored it, and exported it to Germany. I don't believe it will be coming back to me!
