Karl von Gunten says: This 1960 Thunderbird convertible has been in the same family since 1962 when my father purchased the T-bird from George Stone Oldsmobile in Massillon, Ohio. The vehicle was used for family transportation throughout the 60s and 70s. It was my first car and in fact, I learned to drive in it. The car was featured in my wedding in 1978. The bird remained in my parents heated garage until 1991 when it was moved to Cary, North Carolina. I began the restoration that year and it was in various storage facilities until 2012 when a total "frame"- off restoration began. It is now back in my possession where I'm fine tuning the restoration. It came from the factory with Cruise-O-Matic transmission, power steering, power brakes, windshield washers, backup lights, tinted glass, MagicAire, leather interior, outside mirror, radio and front seat belts. SelectAire Conditioning, power driver's seat, power windows, rear seat belts and fender shields were added during the restoration. Like many long-term owners, this car has become a passion for me. I must have well over 2000 hours over the years in personally restoring and detailing this fine automobile.
