Rob Courter says: This 1960 Thunderbird was purchased in the Charlotte, North Carolinia area and driven home to Texas in between the Gulf hurricanes (Katrina and Rita) in 2005. The car is a two door convertible (76A) that is Raven Black (A) with a red and white interior (55) which was scheduled to be built on May 3rd, 1960. The car still has the original 352 engine and transmission. It also has power windows and steering, but only has manual brakes (for now).<p>

I purchased this car as a 'replacement' for what should have been my first car. In 1961 my father told my mother that she could have anything she wanted for Christmas. Her request was a mink and a Thunderbird. She got a new mink, and a year old (1960) Thunderbird convertibleā€¦ Gunpowder grey, red leather with the 430. Since I was born in 1955, I knew that car was destined to be mine as soon as I could drive. Just before I got my learners permit we moved to Europe, and rather than put the car in storage while we were gone, my father sold it for $75.00. Granted the body was rusted away from too many years on salty winter roads in the northeast, but he car was always 'perfect' in my mind's eye. For over 35 years I've been hunting for it's replacement and this is the one.
