Jeff Raef says: I bought this 1961 Thunderbird from the original family owners from Colorado Springs Colorado where it had sat for 10 years in a backyard undriven - that was in October 2014. Since then we have rebuilt the motor, front end, rearend, brakes and booster, new paint and rubber. Next will be interior then will be done. We also pulled the gauges and had Williams and Arkansas rebuild them put in a quartz movement on the clock now we're in the process of repainting, should have it painted and exterior reassembled into weeks hopefully after the first of the year will have it reupholstered and will be done for a while. The story we were told is this Teebird was owned bought brand-new by the man who had a big part and put it on the Pikes Peak Road race every year he work for one of the Ford companies in Colorado Springs and bought this car for his wife. It had 96,000 miles on it when we bought it we had the mileage turn back to zero when Williams rebuilt the speedo. The car came with five Kelsey Hayes wire wheels with the Ford's script stamped on them we gave $1800 for the car and started it up and drove it up on the trailer thinking we wouldn't have to do much to just clean it up but when we pulled the intake manifold to pull the heads to have heart valves and seats installed we knew at that time we had to rebuild.
It will be a daily driver.
