David Mumaw says: I received this 1961 Thunderbird Hardtop when settling the estate of an elderly relative. The plates are from 1975 and there shows only 9,117 miles. I believe this to be accurate based on an oil change receipt from July 9, 1970 showing the mileage as 6799 and personal knowledge of his driving habits. <p> I believe everything is original, including the battery, tires, and cardboard tags attached to the hoses. The body is perfect but the paint has some surface scratches on the roof (looks like he slid a box accross it). The rest of the metallic-blue paint is very nice, and the chrome and interior are beautiful. It has a power driver's seat, power windows, Awing-Away steering wheel, and fender shields. The keys were nowhere to be found, but I was able to locate the original "1961 Thunderbird Owner" card with the dealer's name, serial number, ignition/trunk key codes, and the delivery date of July 24, 1961. It was covered in dust, and all I have done so far is give it a quick wash and shine up the chrome a bit. I have not tried to turn the key. What should I, or more importantly shouldn't I, do to get her up and running and looking new? I would appreciate any advice. (P.S. - I am very handy but an automotive novice).
