Keith says: My parents bought it in 1965 in Hollywood,Florida, We moved it to Louisville, Kentucky in 1970. I drove it to high school until I bought my Mach 1 in 1970. My parents drove it until 1978 when the 390 developed stuck hydraulic lifters and parked it. I had a 1969 Cougar XR7 with a 428 CJ that became totaled so I transplanted the engine and C6 transmission into it in 1979. We couldn't get it to fire up. Later I found out the Neutral safety switch was the problem. The 428 CJ engine and C6 Transmission were rebuilt to stock specs in 1991. sitting had deteriorated the Top and Interior and minor rust . I was restoring My 1970 Mach 1 and trying to strip the paint on the T-Bird but found out with a 1 car garage I couldn't do both at the same time. I took the bird to my brothers house where it stayed for several years. I now have a 3 car garage and am starting to Restomod it since it's no longer having original drivetrain. It will look Original except for Magnum 500 Wheels and newer Ford Race Red paint which resembles the Monte Carlo Orange/Red anyway. The only rust issues are package tray, top of quarters where rubber top pads rested on body and curve area of trunk where top and flip deck rest. Also small hole in trunk bottom where tire rests and 2 small holes in lower quarter panel. Undercoating protected car well over the years. This Florida car looks Identical to the Thunderbird in the Elvis Movie " Follow that Dream. It does not have Swing-Away Steering Wheel or Select Aire Conditioner.
