Ken Harkema says: A local restoration shop started the full restoration on this car to the point where the drive train was rebuilt and installed, the body and paint was done, all chrome replated but all not installed, all stainless and aluminum polished but not all installed. new leather seat covers were in the boxes. A new dash and door panels were included but not installed. All the glass was out of the car except the rear window. All window frames were apart but polished and replated.
<p> The shop got in touch with me and asked if I could take to project to completion as the worker that was doing all the work quit the business and the owner had no idea how to put the car back in one piece. Unfortunatly the car went to other shops for completion but no work was ever done so many parts were missing once I recieved the car along with some damage to the new paint. The hood and trunk lids were not installed when I received the car. <p> I am within one month of completing the car. A new data plate was ordered and installed to reflect the current color and trim so now the color code is XM and the trim code is 86. <p> As with other cars I have completed in similar situations it is very challenging to finish the car when so many parts are missing causing long delays while finding them. <p> At this point the dash is in, all the side glass and windshield are installed, the leather seat covers are installed but the seats are not assembled, the door panels are assembled but not installed, I have the car running and driving, all of the exterior brightwork is installed, and most of the interior brightwork is installed. <p> To complete the car I need to repair the power seat and assemble the seats. Install the A/C expansion valve and hook up the hoses and then recharge the A/C system which has been converted to 134A Sanden system. I need to install radio, speakers, and CD player which is defective. I need to install the carpet, redye the center console and rear quarter interior panels and install them. I need to install the trunk lining kit and install all the window switches and complete the installation of the dash trim and knee pads.
