Randall Pogue Jr. says: This Acapulco blue/white top Thunderbird Landau was purchased on 16 January 1963 from Bock Motors in New Braunfels, Texas by the local newspaper editor for his wife. She drove the car locally for 20 years, and her husband kept detailed maintainence records on the car; one fine day in 1984 she went to get her drivers license renewed and the brakes went out as she was pulling in the the parking lot of the DMV. There was a minor fender bender as the car hit the DMV office. The owner still loved this car, so he took it to Hill Country Customs and had a very quality repaint done in the original color-doorjams, trunk-all of it- and a total brake job, too!

Now, his wife was afraid to drive the car, so it seldom was driven anymore, just sitting in their garage. In July 1996, they contacted my father (who also lives in New Braunfels) and sold it to him for $3000.00! My dad has several other classics, so the T-Bird sat in HIS garage under a cover, seldom driven, until I finally convinced him to sell me the car in November 2005.
The car has just under 50,000 miles on it, I have replaced the rear suspension, had the radiator recored, installed a new carburetor and a few other upgrades (always stock) and drive it on weekends. The motor has only been apart once to have hardened valve seats installed, and other than the paint and routine maintainence, the car is all original. The upholstery, dash, carpets, and exhaust are all original. The car is equipped with power windows, power driver seat, air conditoning, and power brakes.
Update May 18, 2011: The car has been stripped down and repainted Acapulco blue with a pearl white roof, the interior has been redone in metallic blue with pearl white inserts in the original pattern, the 390 has been rebuilt with some mild performance upgrades including .060 overbore, balancing, electronic ignition, ceramic coated headers and a mild cam. Custom wheels, dual exhaust and all new weatherstripping were also added. The entire braking, fuel, steering and suspension systems have been replaced. This car is now ready to go another 48 years!
