This is a 1963 Thunderbird Sports Roadster. An owner was Ron Spindler of California. It was advertised for sale in May/June 2013 issue of the VTCI Thunderbird Scoop. The seller says that the car is complete but the engine is out of it. It was purchased by James Capuzzo. * * * SPECIAL * * * * UPDATE January 2020, former owner Ron Peters contacted the Registry. Ron says this: "I bought this as a used car in 1966. It was originally titled to Ford Motor Company for an executive at the Parts Depot in Sandston, VA. A private owner had purchased the car and traded it to Dick Strauss Ford in Richmond, VA - Dick Strauss Ford offered it for sale (where I first saw it) but eventually sent it to their partner location, Courtesy Lincoln Mercury where I purchased it. I traded it in 1968 at Universal Ford in Richmond, VA to purchase a 1967 Thunderbird. I repurchased this car in about 1973 from a private owner and resold it in 1974 to a private owner from Maryland. When I originally purchased it, it was without the factory tonneau cover as well as numerous original engine parts (3-2 bbl. carbs, air cleaner and all under hood chrome parts had been swapped for 4-bbl. carb and painted parts). I was able to obtain the tonneau from the previous owner and it remained with the car when I sold it to the Maryland purchaser." - - - - - - - According to its factory gate release, this Thunderbird had every possible factory option and was likely the most expensive 1963 that could have been built. The pictures are from Ron Peters when he owned it. NOTE, Don Kimrey was the first person to report this car, but only as a VIN. Former owner Ron Peters was added as the spotter on January 20, 2020.
