Gary Van Booven says: My car is not a perfect car but does win it's share of trophies. This car is driven!!! Not on a daily basis but about twice a week in the spring, summer and fall and occasionally in the winter. Weather permitting! There is no rust in the car. Chrome is about 95%. You have to get pretty close to see any problems with the chrome. It is an air conditioned car which is very nice in our hot summers.
In September, 2004 Gary added that his Thunderbird was the sole car featured at the Lodge of the Four Seasons' 40th Anniversary celebration in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. The Lodge is a decidedly upscale hostelry and back in 1964, guests would have been arriving in decidedly upscale cars like Lincolns, Cadillacs, and of course, Thunderbirds. - - - - - - - -Gary says: "They displayed the car right in their valet parking arrival area. Wow did the car look good there! People were ooh'ing and aah'ing. Many of the older people were saying the car sure brought back pleasant memories. The band playing at the reception dinner and party, wanted to auction the car off. I told them no thanks that I wanted to keep the car until I can replace it with a convertible 64. The band was in love with the car. They announced "How about that Thunderbird out front". There were about 300 people there and they all stood up and applauded the car. My wife and I felt like a million dollars."
