Javier Caballero says: On November 13th, 1963, Mr. A.J. McKenzie purchased a Diamond Blue Thunderbird as a Christmas gift for his wife from the Hardcastle Ford Dealership in Luling, Texas. Mrs. McKenzie was diagnosed with cancer in 1998. At that time, she gave her pride and joy to her daughter, Mrs. June M. Eubank. Mrs. McKenzie passed away in June of 2002. The car was garage-parked and only occasionally driven after her passing. It became difficult for Mrs. Eubank to care for the car as her husband also passed away from cancer in 2005. Mrs. Eubank’s daughter and son-in-law decided that it was time to fight the cancer that greatly affected their family. They donated the car to the American Cancer Society’s 2005 Annual Cattle Baron's Ball in Lubbock, Texas to be auctioned. The car had exactly 50,000 miles on the odometer. The winning bidder of this live auction paid the agreed donation and then turned the keys back over to the Society so that it could be re-auctioned that same evening.
About a year later, we purchased the car from the second highest bidder: Chad Carlson. The Caballero Family
