William R. Clay says: This 1964 Hardtop lived a long and salt encrusted life in the Western New York Region (think Buffalo, NY winters and plenty of rock salt) before moving out west in 2006. Residing now in the dryer sunny clime of the Denver area, and a member of the Rocky Mountain Thunderbird Club and VTCI, the 64-Bird gets more driving time than ever. While Ford could have painted this bird the way you see it here, they did not. Originally all white with a red interior, the previous owners re-painted the car in the early 2000 period. We call it the Redhead-Bird, and it never fails to draw attention. With industrial strength under-panel welding (trunk and both sides of the front pan) this vehicle will never be a trailer queen show bird, so modifications to update it have been accepted. Third brake light, updated electrics, AM/FM/Weather/CD player, GPS unit, extra cooling fans (for those long hot slow parades), and other mods have been made. It is a driver, and a 2009 750 mile summer trip over the Rockies proves this point. Only thing we could wish for is AC and disc brakes… They will come!
