Scottie Rice says: I found my '64 Thunderbird at the house of a friend in East Mountain, Texas. It still has the original California black plates on the car dated 63. The car had been formerly owned by a marine that drove it down from California. When he got to Texas his wife forced him to sell it to my buddy. My buddy David bought it from him then traded to his nephew for some cash and a couple of old 30's radios (hopefully Philco). A year or so went by and the nephew wanted to get rid of the car and traded it back to David for a 1940's Wurlitzer Jukebox.
It sat at David's place for another year or two until I started hounding him for the car. I have been wanting to buy a 1964-1966 Thunderbird since I was 12 years old....finally after weeks of agitation I convinced David to sell it to me. He told me if you take it just the way the car sits you can have it for $800.00, I told him that was fine but he had taken the seats, headliner and carpet out of the car, if he would help me put them back in I would buy it.
So he did. And on November 10th, 2005 at around 8PM I was the proud owner of a 1964 Thunderbird. When I got it home I realized the car only had a little over 75,000 original miles on it. The old girl is going to need paint, some interior work, two fender skirts, a pair of mufflers, and I just got it a rebuilt carburetor, and will be draining the gas from the tank tommarow. If there is anyone that can give me some advice on some of the details on this car I would sincerely appreciate it, my primary experiece has been (up till now) with General Motors Products.
