Lance Staton says: I purchased the vehicle on 5/12/2021 in Tucson, Arizona from Mike Phillips who listed it on Craigslist on behalf of the owner. The owner Susan Marie Hawkins had a title company notarize the title for sale. She was the daughter of the supposed original owner Charlie Hawkins, who I was told was an AirForce service person during the Vietnam War. He passed away years prior and left the car for his daughter, but she apparently never drove it and left it sitting in the warm Arizona sun for many years. The odometer had 110K on it when I purchased it. The engine and transmission were purportedly rebuilt in 1981 when the vehicle had 100K miles. It was driven 10k miles and parked for about 40 years. I ran when I purchased it, but the valves were stuck and I reserviced the heads. Charlie Hawkins apparently tried to convince his wife to change the color of the car to turquoise and then white by apparently painting only the hood and front fenders. Ha. It has a very nice patina now that shows traces of the added colors and the original midnight blue. The car is old, weathered, and was home to mice, but is complete. I'll restore the interior and tidy up the engine bay, while leaving the nice patina finish. - - - - - According to the factory gate release, it was sold new by Boulware H. Jameson Inc., Court at 6th, Fulton, Missouri. The MSRP was $5,209.49.
