Lori Sanfelippo says: This Thunderbird has been in my family since it was purchased brand new on November 29,1965 from Butterfield Ford in Riverton, Utah by my grandma and grandpa - Don and Hazel Marie Hardman. Unfortunately my grandpa (who was extremely excited to get this car) passed away less than two years after it was purchased. Before he died, he told my grandma not to get rid of it because it was such a good car. True to her word she did not get rid of it. She did not drive it much and in 1980 she stopped driving it altogether. It sat in her carport from then on. She would not let it be covered because she thought people would think no one lived in the house so consequently the paint on the passenger side (which was the open side of the carport)faded off down to the metal and had rusted. She did, however, have the fluids drained, kept the engine covered with heavy carpet and kept window shades in the front and rear windows. She passed away in 2004 and my family inherited the car. We were able to get it running and the interior was in perfect condition. We found a guy to paint it and he was able to get the original Emberglo Metallic paint--now it almost looks new. We have some chrome work to do and some paint work in the engine but other than that it looks great. <p>This car has only been running since June of 2005 and already we have received 2 plaques (one including a $300 Mac Tools shopping spree) and a trophy at the local cruise nights and car shows. As of October 2005 it has 40,000 miles on the odometer.
