Jim Lehmann says: I am the third owner of my 1966 Thunderbird Hardtop. It was purchased by an genteman in the Air Force and he kept it till around 1996-97 or so. Right after he bought it his son took the car out and sideswiped a pole so a small dent on the passenger side of the door is still there....gives it character! The car was then sold to a retired State patrolman who kept it for 6 years. He drove it for 3 of those years with the last 3 just sitting and not even starting. I saw he was building a new garage and rode by on a bike one day, and left a note if he wanted to sell it, let me know. He called me that day and told me he would sell "as is" for $2000. Well, I couldn't help but get excited over that for all the chrome and interior was in good shape and the paint, although original just needed some buffing. So I played with the car for a few weeks, had the carburetor rebuilt and put in new plugs and it finally started. I have put in around $1500 for brakes and tires etc. The push rods and lifters were sticking so I cleaned those out, gave it a new fuel pump, and other minor things. It runs like a top now.<p>
