Thomas Fry says: This white on white 1966 Thunderbird Convertible was bought as a executive lease car in Houston,Texas for the first two years, then he purchased it for his wife. Then in 1985 Cliff R. Thomas recived a call from a couple that wanted to list there 66 T-BIRD convertible in our VTOH club newsletter. MR C.R.THOMAS was the founder & first president (1984-85) of VTOH.For the next 5 years he was the membership chairman for the VTOH. The couple wanted to sell their BIRD to someone who would take good care of there BIG BIRD. After talking to the owners of this gem, he set up a time to go and see it. LOVE was in the air,at first site he knew he had to have it. BUT there was one thing he had to do first and that was to sell his other two T-BIRDS, which were a 1963 Hardtop and a 1965 Special Landau. A deal was made and now for the first time there was a convertible parked in the garage. The first month, the T-BIRD was taken to its first show ,which was an all- FORD show. He came home with a big 1st place trophy and a really big SMILE. The bird was a eye catcher. It has done many of parades & weddings. This was Cliff's pride and joy.
Well Ciff passed away December 2, 2003. But the T-BIRD lives on.With flying colors. There is so much to tell about this car, with the love, pride, care and of course the $$$$. MAY 04,1966 delivered to Jack Roach Ford Houston,Texas, 1966-1978: Executive Lease Car, 1968: Lease expired and it was purchased for the wife, 1968-1984: Wife drove it in Bellaire, Texas, 1984: Cliff Thomas Founder & First President of Vintage Thunderbirds of Houston, 1985: 98,250 miles, 1985: C.R.Thomas new owner, Houston, Texas Just a few miles from its orginal home, 12/2/03: CRT passes on to the big birds nest in sky. It is willed to me Thomas w. Fry because we both drove it for 20 years and loved it… 1/15/04 T-bird and I both move to Corpus Christi, Texas<br> 1/22/05:: As of this date it turned to read 50,000 miles. That is right the 20 years we owned the t-bird we have only driven it 52,000 miles...And it sure has been a great and fun bird to drive and even more fun to drive TOPLESS... As Paul Harvey would say: Page 2... I am thinking on selling this Thunderbird, just like the orginal owner I had to found that special new owner. The new owner will be Bill Kelly, a lawyer and is also on the the city council here in Corpus Christi. He will be the only city councilman to be in the parade driving his on car. He is the first person that I have wanted to sell this car to. He said the right words: "I used to own a 1964 Thunderbird Hardtop" it wa not hard to sell him on the idea of a soft top. The car was made on May 4, 1966 and his birthday is May 3, 1959...Have you ever wanted your child to be born on your birthday... Thank you for reading this story of love to the history of just one of the finest automobiles that America has ever built.
