This 1966 Thunderbird Landau sold on eBay by Cars 4 Causes of Santa Paula, California for $1,025 on June 13, 2009. UPDATE May 2020, Kai Schmitz notified the Registry that he owns this Thunderbird. He says: I bought this Thunderbird in 2012 from a mechanic, who imported the car to Germany but didn't have time and space for a restauration. When I started the restauration in 2015 I found that the original 428cui was replaced by a Cleveland 400M engine from the early 1970s. The restauration still isn't completely finished. Car was in very bad shape, but will be in great condition, when it's done. It's still located in Germany.
The original color was Emberglo metallic, hidden under several layers of gold and black. I changed the color to a dark grey. Interior was completely destroyed and in dark red / maroon. It has been replaced by a bright red interior. The car had several bullet holes in it's body, dashboard and windshield. I found used and unused shotgun ammunition and small zip-bags with "white powder" during restoration. So I'd be highly interested, if someone knows about the history of the car.
