This is a 1966 Thunderbird Town Landau. Its original color was Candyapple Red (T) and it has a black vinyl interior (26). It was scheduled for production on September 1, 1965 (01J) and ordered through the Detroit, Michigan District Sales Office (33). It has a 3.00:1 rear axle ratio (01) and Cruise-O-Matic transmission (8). Apparently the data tag has been changed as Jim Harrington, who submitted the information, tells the Registry that the car does not appear to have been repainted, and has a blue interior.
Thunderbird Spotter Jim Harrington says: This poor, sad, elegant car sits in the yard of an abandoned house in southern lower Michigan. While the rear springs have popped through into the trunk, and the body is beyond saving, the car is mostly intact. The interior is complete, even though the door panels are out in the yard; the grill and most exterior chrome pieces are still there, too. The old house sits up on a hill, and the driveway is barely visible through the overgrowth, and because it is invisible, I predict this car will slowly return to the earth while previous owners fondly recall its glory days. I'm sure someone remembers the quiet yet powerful growl of the engine and the smooth, heavy, confident ride.
