R. B. Dawson says: I purchased this car in 2000, from the second registered owner, in California. It was built at the Los Angeles assembly plant; 1968 was the first year Thunderbirds were built at a plant other than Wixom. It has all available factory options except AM-FM radio, power windows, and reclining passenger seat. It also has dealer-installed rear seat speakers that are controlled by a knob mounted under the dashboard.

The Thunderbird has no documented restoration and shows only 69,000 miles on the odometer (not counting the 3,000 mile trip from California to Virginia on the back of a transport, and the 1,500 miles I towed it with my 1963 Country Sedan from Virginia to Texas where we now live).

I have done some basic repairs on it because it had been in storage for a couple of years….water pump, fan clutch, and an air conditioner hose. When it first experienced the Virginia winter weather it refused to shift, and a local transmission rebuilder "acclimatized" it.

The car and its owners miss the beautiful, historic Virginia scenery but also like it here in Fort Worth, Texas, where it rarely snows.
