This car was ordered by my father on or around 12-12-67, that is the date he gave his $100 deposit. The car was Sunlit Gold (a color that my mother picked out but when they picked up the car she couldnt stand. It was too bright for her so she made my dad buff it to tone it down)2 dr landau with a parchment top.My parents also ordered (in order as listed on original invoice which I have) flight bucket seats and console(parchment) Parchment vinyl roof, Limited slip differential, WSW tires, Power windows, Rear window defogger, SelectAire Conditioner, AM/FM stereo radio ,Tinted glass, and then it says "Less shoulder belts". Total window sticker says $5830.76 but the invoice says my dad paid $5045.62 in full on 1-19-68. The car was delivered to Rye Ford in Rye, New York. There is a great story that goes with the reason they purchased the car from Rye Ford instead of the Ford dealership in Greenwich Connecticut where we lived. My mom and dad had gone to test drive a Thunderbird at the dealership in Greenwich.Since they were so young in 1967, dad was 25 and mom was 24 - the salesman didn't think they could afford it and didn't take them seriously, treating them badly. They drove directly to Rye Ford and ordered the car. The day they took delivery they drove the car back to the dealership in Greenwich and showed the salesman the beautiful Thunderbird they had purchased and he didn't make the commission on. My mom loved that car and drove it into the mid 70's. Something went wrong with the carb I think, I remember dad being angry that the dealerships couldn't make the car run right and he parked it.The car stayed with us until about 1986 when my dad sold it to a kid on our street named Mark Manero. He fixed the car up and drove it for a while until someone vandalized it and I dont know where it went from there. The car for me only exists in my memory's and on paper. I had my first kiss in that car!
