The former owner of this 1968 Thunderbird 2-door Landau sent a picture of the build sheet and says: This was the second car I ever owned. I paid $500.00, all of my savings, for it. I bought it from the family that bought it new (as I remember their story). It was very clean and straight and had a recent high quality repaint. It was bench seat, did not have cruise, but had most of the other available options. The car was left in the hands of our family mechanic shop in the late 1970s. It was removed from their parking lot by an unknown party. A day or so later the police knocked on my parents door in the middle of a Saturday night asking if they knew where their son was (me). (What a nightmare that must of been - it only occurs to me now...) The police advised my Dad that they had found the car, apparently abandoned after it had been wrecked into a utility pole. Luckily, I was out visiting friends in their Chrysler. Once it became clear that I was not driving or in the car when it was wrecked they seemed to lose interest. I never knew if they did any sort of follow up. They never contacted us again after that. I kept it in the back yard for a few years because I couldn't bear to get rid of it but it was pretty well ruined. The insurance company was extremely hard nosed about it. They told me they would not give me any money on my claim if I wanted to keep the car. I elected to keep the car so it was a total loss. (I was just a kid.) Eventually I called a salvage yard and had it towed off. I have no information after that.
