Steven L. Zgirbar says: I am the third owner of this vehicle, and am in the process of verifying the Mark IV option. The car has 55,000 original miles on it, sports the Copper Fire hand rubbed optional paint package, which included hood stripes and color keyed wheels. The car was originally sold in Wichita, Kansas from the Town and Country Ford Sales, Inc. dealership at 3901 North Broadway. Cash price for the car new was $7,672.37. The car also has the optional 460 engine [A], side cornering lamps, bumper guards, tilt wheel, the turnpike option group consisting of cruise control, trip odometer, and reclining passenger seat, 6-way power driver's seat, SelectAire Conditioner, [standard w/the 460 option], power side and rear windows, dark tobacco leather interior [KZB], AM-FM radio, convenience group options [hood light, trunk light, lights on, trunk open, door ajar, etc.], 2.75:1 ratio rear end [2], and C6 Automatic transmission [U].
It was assembled in Wixom, Michigan on March 29, 1972, and was number 26,290 of the 35,585 assembled there. The district sales office was Kansas City.<p> It was originally sold to George E. Ford of Wichita, Kamsas on May 23, 1972, then to Vern Imes in May of 1996. Vern bought the car from George Ford's widow, whom he knew. I purchased the car March 9, 2003 in Wichita, Kansas using eBay and trailered it back to Ohio. Car has never been smoked in, and is in immaculate condition, with no body rust or repairs of any kind. It is in fully original condition. I am told that Ford offered a special Mark conversion on these T-Birds from 1971-1974, and am attempting to verify this. The package was to consist of the Lincoln Mark IV Hood ornament, chrome header panel, Mark IV sill plates, and Mark IV emblems on the passenger side interior panel below the Thunderbird emblem, and on the sail panels. The vinyl top was also part of the package.
