Tom says: When I purchased the car, the prior owner stated he’d been contacted by a local Ford salesman who’d worked for the local Ford dealer who originally sold the car. He stated the dealership had purchased 5 Thunderbirds with the Continental trunk lid as a factory option. From the wear patterns, it appears that is accurate. The Continental emblem around the trunk lock is rotated 90 degrees so is horizontal with the Thunderbird emblem placed where it is supposed to be at the lower right corner of the lid.
