Gary J. Swiatowy says: My grandfather purchased this car new at Hess and Sweeney Ford in Akron, New York. It still has his name affixed to the dashboard. In 1978 he decided to purchase a new Corvette. The Chevy dealer offered him only $1000 trade in so he gave the car to me. When I got it it had only 17,000 miles on it, it now has only 39,000 miles. The car has the code 6G glamor paint group, dual remote mirrors and power windows. My grandfather was not one for options. I did upgrade to an original type AM/FM radio as he had only bought AM. This bird came with the dreaded Firestone 500 tires on it, 3 of which were replaced during his ownership due to belts shifting, with the same Firestone 500 tires. When I got the car Firestone had the recall of those tires. After much bickering I got them replaced with the 721s. Firestone did not believe at first that 5 year old tires would still have enough tread to replace. Even then they would only replace the 4 that were on the ground, so I still had the Original 500 tire as a spare. In 1990 a man spotted that original spare in the trunk, he was a manager for a Firestone dealer, he wanted that original 500 tire so he arranged for me to get a free 721 as a replacement. In essance, I have never bought tires for this car. - - - - - - UPDATE September 2017, New York State DMV registration is current.
