Wade Turner says: This 1973 Thunderbird is now in Australia and it is impossible to determine when it arrived and was first registered in this country. In the late seventies these cars were of little value, and with a favourable exchange rate, many made their way to Australia, converted to RHD and sold as prestige cars, along with similar era Lincolns. It is interesting that this car was made for DSO 13 and most cars out here are from the west coast not the east. this makes finding the history even more interesting. I know from a bunch of papers found up under the dash that it was owned by Mr Perry, the owner of Perry Bros Circus and travelled widely towing his large caravan. I also know it was owned by a couple in Epping, New South Wales and then a young man in Parramatta, New South Wales. The car has since been restored but due to extensive panel work required, I opted for a colour change from the Emerald Fire green with white roof, to deep burgundy port wine with matching roof. The well worn 429 was recently rebuilt when it throew a rod luckily with no severe block damage. The car is not without its frustrations but overall drives real nice and turns head wherever it goes, being quite a rare beast in our country.
