Doug Romm says: This car was purchased new by my wife’s uncle when he was stationed in Hawaii in the mid-1960s. Shortly after buying the car new, he was transferred to Vietnam to serve as a helicopter pilot. He had been there 1 week when he was flying a mission and died after being struck by ground fire.
The car was shipped back to the mainland and retrieved by his mother. My wife’s grandmother drove the car occasionally as a rolling tribute to her son. Fast forward to the early 1990s. I was a single man in my late ‘20s who had moved to the same town. I spotted the all original T-Bird sitting in a local gas station with Mema at the wheel. I struck up a conversation, but of course the car was not for sale. I struck up a friendship with Mema. A couple of years later, I met Mema’s granddaughter, who was my same age. A year later we were married and drove the car away from the reception. We inherited the 65K original mile T-Bird when Mema passed.
