Bret Christian says: My 1967 Thunderbird 4-door Landau is black with a black interior and has all options. It was exported to Singapore in 1967 where the steering was converted to the right-hand side; an expensive and complex modification as Ford did not manufacture the Thunderbird with a provision for "mirror image" conversion of steering, foot controls, instruments, etc. Even the driver's seat and mirror controls had to be modified. In the late 1960s, it was shipped to Perth, Western Australia where it was bought by Paddy Baker, the owner of a string of Outback drive-in theatres. He used the Thunderbird to drive around collecting money. He once stashed $15,000 in the trunk and then forgot where it was. In the mid 1970s, Mr. Baker parked it in a shed alongside his 1959 Dodge and left it. When he died in 1985, I bought the Thunderbird. It was driveable and in good condition. I have driven it almost daily ever since; it has had a full bare-metal respray (in original black), a rebuilt engine, and a rebuilt transmission. It now has 115,000 miles and drives like a new car. Registrar's Note: The fifth character in this Thunderbird's vehicle identification number is an "8". This indicates the 428-cubic inch low-compression V-8 engine which was installed in cars planned for export. This Thunderbird resides in Subiaco, Western Australia.
