1955 Prototype
Jeffrey A. Barnes
On July 14, 2018, Brendon Barnes notified the Registry that this pre-production 1955 Thunderbird was owned by his father in 1975. This car was not an "assembly line" regular production car, but likely the finished product prototype which was approved for regular production. Brendon says his father sold it in 1978. The pictures were taken when Mr. Barnes owned it, and there is a 1966 Thunderbird in the background of one of them and the '55 has Pennsylvania license plates. Additionally, this car had been previously documented by Phil Skinner who reported the color/trim/date/production codes, and reported that it was in Pennsylvania in 1975. Brendon's information makes credible the many stories and rumors which had been circulating for many years about the existence of this car. In the Registry, it has been granted the "Significant" code of PR, for 1955 prototype. As of this date, whether or not it exists is unknown.
