Skip Panowitz says: Our 2002 Thunderbird was the first delivered at our dealership on September 28, 2001. We had advised the dealer in 1998, when it was first indicated that Ford might build a new two-seat bird again, that we wanted to be first on the list. We actually provided them with a list in the event they had not initiated one, which they had not. We followed it's progress closely, travelling to the Detroit Car show in '99 to see the concept car. We had planned to buy a restored '57 (we already had two 65's) when our daughter graduated from college in 2000, but this looked like a better option (safer, more comfortable, more creature comforts, etc). We actually got to sit in one of the concept cars at the ITC convention in '99. The car still draws a tremendous amount of attention.
