This car was bought by the original owner in New Jersey brand new in late 9/63. The owner moved to Massachusetts in the early 70's. Sighting the rise in gas prices, the owner stored the car in a rented garage in Brighton, Massachusetts around 9/78. From what we can ascertain, they car didn't move from that spot for almost 20 years. It may have been started a couple of times the first few years, but it was not driven. The owners of the garage had kids who got into the car and damaged a few interior items. The owner of the car left the windows cracked open, letting dirt and the elements to get in. I was approached 7/97 by the car owner's brother, complimenting how clean I kept my daily driver. He asked if I was interested in buying an old car. So I went with my father to look at the car. The garage it was in was in disrepair, the concrete floor was breaking apart. The owner of the garage was looking for back-rent The car was largely complete, with minimal rot, but a weather beaten finish, and a dirty interior. I bought the car, towed it home and my nephew, my father and I got right to work cleaning the interior and getting it running. The only rot on the whole car was the lower edge of the front fenders and the lower front bumper. The car was missing fender skirts, as it had the pins present in the wheel opening. We bought a fibreglass set through JC Whitney. Chrome was done by Nu-Chrome in fall River, MA from 10/97-1/98. Body was stripped by Gray Restoration in Whitman, MA in 1998, paint by Scavo Auto Body in Quincy, MA in 1998. This Bird has very few options. Fender skirts, whitewall tires, has dealer installed front seat belts but that's it. It appears it was one of the earliest 64's that didn't get seat belts or a seat belt light. No power windows, no power seats, no A/C, Am radio with single speaker, no Safety Convenience Panel, no Speed Control, non-spinner wheel covers, no tinted glass, no right side mirror. My nephew takes the Bird to all of the shows, with my father until he died in 2009
