Hardtop
This is a 1965 Thunderbird Hardtop. According to the book Thunderbird Restoration Guide by William Wonder, this Thunderbird was a regular production Hardtop that was transformed by the factory into a show car. This Thunderbird featured a "blind quarter" rear roof that had a heavily padded vinyl cover, in the design that was to become the 1966 Thunderbird Town Landau. It also had some other exterior modifications including a modified rear bumper and chrome exhaust extensions, and other differences that were a precursor to the 1966 Thunderbirds. It was named "The Palomino". It was sold to a private individual in the fall of 1965. As of March, 2004 its status was unknown. Picture from Automotive Mileposts web site.
