[Former owner] Jimmy Blackburn says: I have owned this 1955 Thunderbird since 1965. Information appeared in the CTCI publication Early Bird, July-August 1974 magazine. The car has sat in my shop unstarted since 1983. I installed a modified 406 and 4-speed in 1970. Fast Car. I have planned for years to have it restored by 2005, but I doubt that it will happen. - - - - - - - - - UPDATE August 2017, Justin Blackburn says: My father, Jimmy Pat Blackburn, passed away last month and my brother and I have inherited the car from him. We plan on carrying out the restoration of this car that my dad always talked about. He purchased in 1965 and installed a modified 406 and 4-speed in 1970. He liked to go fast and I suspect this car is, indeed, fast! It has been kept in his farm shop since 1983. - - - - - - - - Thunderbird Registry says: In the first six months of the Registry's existence, Jimmy Blackburn was very helpful and generous by sharing his list of 114 "very early" 1955 Thunderbirds, their VINs, and other data. It is because of his input that the Registry took the initiative to create the entire "First 996" 1955 Thunderbirds list. We are saddened by the loss of Jimmy and forever grateful for his help.
