This 1955 Thunderbird is part of the not-yet-documented "first 1000" VIN list. The gathering of information about this Thunderbird is of top priority to the Registry. Status 99 is reserved for 1955 Thunderbirds which have a last-six of 101000 or lower, and are not yet visually documented. UPDATE May 2015, Doug Buckley notified the Registry that he has owned this Thunderbird since the early 1970s. He says it didn't have the original engine, transmission or rear axle. It has been sitting for about 20 years. He says the car was originally bought in St. Louis. He found it just sitting on it's belly in a lady's back yard. She had bought it for her husband who didn't make it back from Viet Nam. (picture added, status changed to Intact) UPDATE December 2018, New owner Jackie L. Shipp notified the Registry…..I recently purchased this Thunderbird from the man that owned it for about the past 45 years. It was originally Thunderbird Blue with turquoise and white trim, it is now yellow and had at one time been a dark blue. It now has a 72 Ford 302 and FMX transmission and does currently run and drive , I am in the process of rebuilding the brakes so I can register and drive it.
