This 1955 Thunderbird was documented in the November-December 1998 issue of Early Bird. The owner, Ken Boleen, of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, puchased the car in 1959. Over the years it has been customized and has had several engine and transmission combinations including a Chrysler hemi with a four speed transmission. The customizing included candy apple black cherry paint, all black interior with seats and door panels pleated and rolled, 1959 Buick tail lights, and a 25 gallon stainless steel gas tank.
At the time of the article the current engine had expired on the way home from an annual trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats. Ken plans to install the 5.0 liter fuel injected engine that has been waiting in his garage.
